About the Journal
Language, Society, Communication, a publication by the Yerevan State Linguistic University publishes scholarly research on a wide range of issues. The journal is a trilingual meeting point for innovative modern ideas, original research and discussions on the most important issues of modern science. The first issue of the journal is offering research on theoretical issues of linguistics and semiotics, hermeneutical approaches to the studies of text, and interdisciplinary studies on the cross-roads of social science, philosophy and communication sciences. The variety of topics and approaches, and the geographic span of the universities and academic centers, represented by the many authors and contributors, only help rather than hinder the formation of a special kind of scholarly language. A „language of languages”, the speech of creators and project proposers, the methodology of sciences—this is the aim of today’s science, this defines the aim of the current generation of scholars, particularly those scholars who see themselves within the context of a humanistic and historical system of coordinates. Our generation seeks to attain this goal in a world with globalization as a daily fact, and where the globalization of the scholarly discourse has reached a point of no return, on one hand; and where the narrow specialization of sciences has created peculiar problems of mutual understanding and has clouded the necessary clarity of cumulative progress built on past peers’ achievement, on the other hand.
We hope to unite an ambitious and competitive intercultural community of authors and readers in the academic world where, on one hand, it has become quite easy and, on the other hand, quite difficult to forge significant achievement within the humanities’ domain. The international community of our authors and scholars will continue to contribute to the formation of a „language of languages”, in particular, with the help of our Journal. The understanding of the world, its regularities, tendencies and policies as a precondition for developing projects to build the kind of world we seek to live in, is an area for which such a language of languages is needed.
That is the goal, and the work is in progress. Please work with us, send us your opinions as well as your scholarly contributions for publication. The Journal is open to everybody. The only precondition for publication is the quality of academic research.
Sincerely, The Editorial Team
