A similar consortium between pedagogical universities was established two years ago. The performance was supervised and directed by Miss Annie Martirosyan, a lecturer and post-graduate at the Chair of English Communication. The performance was entirely in Shakespearean English. Miss Martirosyan assures that Shakespeare"s language is not only far from being difficult – as indeed, the English language changed very little from the period of the reign of Elizabeth I to the reign of Elizabeth II, and only 5-10% of Shakespeare"s language is somewhat different from today"s English – but the exposure to Shakespearean English helps students come closer to the English language, avails them to understand and appreciate more accurately both the Shakespearean plots and characters and the manners and habits of Elizabethan England. The performance of King Lear in the big hall of the Brussov university served as a good occasion for the British Embassy to present this renowned university with a set of BBC"s classical DVDs with all 37 of Shakespearean comedies and tragedies, as well as a classical collection sets of Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Charlotte and Emily Bronte , and The history of Britain. In his sort speech HMA Charles Lonsdale said "The best way to remember and honour Shakespeare, who has long become a universal treasure, is to live and perform his works".
