21.11.2009 Conference “Students today”
On the occasion of the International day of students – November the 17th – the Ministry of Education and Science RA hold a conference on the theme “Students today”. The representatives of student councils of different governmental and non governmental educational institutions participated.
Minister of Education Armen Ashotyan in his greeting speech mentioned once more the important role of education for the formation of RA young generation. During the meeting the minister handed over Certificates of honor to student councils of YSU, YSEU, YSMU and YSLU.
He answered the numerous questions of the students concerning student's grants, rotation system in magistracy and student exchange programs.

21.11.2009 “Another story” rock band – already 2 years
On November the 16th, YSLU “Another story” rock band was invited to participate in the interuniversity festival “Rock for students” at Yerevan Puppet Theatre devoted to the International day of students. And this was an occasion to mention that the rock group celebrated its’ foundation 2nd anniversary on November the 14th. We also congratulate the group members and wish them all the best.

19.11.2009 Scholarships for our students
On November the 17th, YSLU two students – Arevik Navoyan (MA, Educaton Management) and Yuliana Yandyan (Russian Language and Literature Department) – were awarded 500 US dollar scholarships from “Gagik Tsarukyan” foundation on the occasion of International Student Day.
The awarding ceremony took place at Yerevan State University. This day was also a very important date for State Engineering University of Armenia and Yerevan State Cinema and Theatre Institute Student Councils, which celebrated their 15th anniversary. The students wished this ceremony to be continued next year. We also congratulate our students and wish them good luck.

17.11.2009 Indian Culture and Language Center at YSLU
On November the 11th, His Excellency Indian Ambassador to Armenia Achal Kumar Malhotra visited Yerevan State Linguistic University “Brusov”, where a memorandum of understanding on the opening of Indian Culture and Language Center was signed with YSLU Rector S. Zolyan. The memorandum envisages the establishment of tighter Indian-Armenian culture, educational and political relations. Mr. Armen Bayburtyan – the first Armenian ambassador to India was also present at the meeting. At the end of the meeting YSLU Rector awarded the Ambassador with YSLU 70th anniversary medal.

17.11.2009 Visiting Armenian churches
On November the 8th, YSLU students of International Tourism department visited Surb Khach Church (St.Cross) alongside with Mughni, Ashtarak and other churches. Kuchak is a small village in the region of Aragatsotn, RA. The most outstanding architectural monument of the village is the church Surb Khach (St. Cross). It was reopened on October the 21st, 2008. The restoration was sponsored by Artur Sahakyan.
The accompanying priest Ignacio conducted a service for our students. The “preserver” of Surb Khach aunt Burik showed the students two other small churches in Kuchak and then invited them to tell about interesting events concerning the church. Despite the cold weather the students left Kuchak with warm impressions.

14.11.2009 Conference for social and cultural solidarity
On the 6th of November, the Center of Communication and Special Educational Approaches with the Department of English communication of YSLU organized “Scientific communication, for cultural unification” scientific interactive conference.
The aim of the conference was the estimation and spreading of the idea of social solidarity, discussion new approaches to communication.
“We must try to create new rules of lifestyle, refresh the culture, without which the development of state and at the same time of educational system is impossible.”-says the head of the Centre of communication and special educational approaches S. Zakaryan.
In unembarrassed sphere, between the authors and the students who had red that works were expanded discussions. The works touched such themes, as satisfaction from the work and the psychological necessities (needs) of the work, the communicative possibilities of overcoming cultural shock, the means of productive communicative education and etc.

14.11.2009 Starting new cooperation
On November, 3rd, 2009, YSLU greeted the Board member of International Association of Armenian studies, the Staff Director of Academic Council of the Catholic University of Leuven Prof. Dr. Bernard Coulie. YSLU rector Prof. S. Zolyan invited our guest to participate in YSLU Scientific Council session where he was granted the status of YSLU honorary professor and awarded the YSLU 70th anniversary medal. Mr. Coulie visited YSLU different language cabinets and the new building.

13.11.2009 "Polyglot" - the champion!!!
On November, 6th, 2009, At Yerevan Financial Academy the second interuniversity tournament on the intellectual game “What? Where? When?” took place. Tournament was organized by the professors of above mentioned educational institution and the vice-president of the Armenian association of experts “What, where, when” N. Manusadjyan. The teams of YSLU, State Medical University, State Slavonic University, Financial Academy and MESI actively participated. At the end of the game our "Polyglot" team won and got the first prize. The team members are: Anahit Aharonyan, Lusine Brutyan, Hasmik Khachunts, Norayr Iskandaryan and the team leader Vahan Zakaryan.

12.11.2009 Chinese Ambassador in YSLU
On the 10th of November in YSLU a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China took place. His Excellency Ambassador presented a speech about the economy, history, policy of PRC and about its relations with Armenia.
Hong Jiuyin expressed contentment at the opening of Confucius centre in YSLU and hoped that he would read a lecture in Chinese next time. He noticed that it is the first such kind of centre in Caucasus.
At the end of the meeting YSLU Rector prof. S. Zolyan presented the Ambassador “every ambassador’s working tool”- a YSLU symbolic pen.

12.11.2009 Philosophy, Politics, and Economics course in Armenia
On November the 3rd the first presentation of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) course for YSLU staff took place. The M.Phil in PPE at Yerevan State Linguistic University “Brusov” mirrors the Oxford PPE course, offering not only the relevant courses, but also the ways each and every subject is taught at Oxford in order to stimulate development of analytical skills. In addition, it includes a number of disciplines relevant for Armenia and the region. PPE is an unusual highly intellectually stimulating course. The three subjects, philosophy, politics and economics, offer contrasting thinking styles and challenges.

09.11.2009 Arthur Abraham at YSLU
On November the 2nd the world box IBF super champion Arthur Abraham visited YSLU. The meeting was organized by 3rd year “International journalism” students on the initiative of Gohar Gasparyan – TV journalism teacher.
The famous boxer answered to the questions of our students and got many kind wishes on his future competitions.
YSLU Rector S. Zolyan greeted everybody, congratulated the famous boxer on his last victory and thanked for visiting our University.

06.11.2009 Chinese medicine
On November the 4th within the framework of “Chinese culture” Forum a meeting with Chinese non-traditional medicine professional Nelly Lee took place, organized by YSLU Confucius Institute and PRC Embassy in RA. The meeting interested the students and staff greatly and was very informative for them.

03.11.2009 Disseminating and implementing the CEF-ESTIM Grid in Higher educational institutions of Armenia
On October 26-27, 2009 a workshop on “Disseminating and implementing the CEF-ESTIM Grid in Higher educational institutions of Armenia” was held in YSLU conference hall. The initiators of the conference were European Centre for Modern Languages (Graz, Austria) and YSLU UNESCO Chair of Education Management and Planning.
The primary goal of the workshop was to discuss the ways of dissemination of the CEF-ESTIM Grid in Higher educational institutions of Armenia. Claire Tardieu (ECML expert) introduced the main working tools of practicing the Grid and its theoretical basis, objectives, content and usage. The workshop was summed up by the suggestions of the participants.

02.11.2009 ACCELS Education Fair
Yerevan State Linguistic University “Brusov” participated in the 14th Education Information Fair on October 23, 2009 at the American University of Armenia organized by ACCELS/ American Councils for International Education /. During this one-day event the visiters were offered a variety of information on student exchange and other programs opportunities of YSLU.

27.10.2009 Creative seminar in Tsakhkadzor
On October 23-25th, EPF (Eurasia Partnership Foundation) and YSLU organized joint creative seminar - “The University in the 21st century”. During the seminar several urgent issues on the development of Educational reforms in RA and the perspectives of their promotion were discussed. The following working groups were actively involved in the topic:
1. “Management of reforms”
2. “Student – University”
3. “Higher Education: objective, method, program”
4. “New problems, new program, new conditions”
During the period of 2 day discussions the participants suggested a number of key answers on the development of Education reforms in RA.

27.10.2009 Italian scientist in YSLU
Within the framework of the 9th annual event “The worldwide development of Italian language and culture” YSLU rector prof. S. Zolyan invited the professor of Bologna University, the member of Italian Academy of Sciences Mr. Emilio Pasquini and the assistant of the ambassador of Italy in RA Mr. Alerto Borgy to visit our University and discuss some educational issues on October the 26th.

23.10.2009 Days of Italian culture
The 9th annual event called “The worldwide development of Italian language and culture” is held in Armenia. This time it is called “Italian in art, science and technology”. The opening ceremony took place on October 19th in the Embassy of Italy. On the 21st of October the assistant of the ambassador of Italy Alerto Borgy and scientist Emilio Pasquini visited YSLU. During the meeting the lecturers of YSLU (F. Hovhannisyan, A. Mkryan and V. Mangasaryan) as well as 9 students of the 3rd and the 4th years made presentations. The students presented «The specific linguistic areas in Italian», and finished the meeting with a performance based on the comedy of Eduardo Fillipo called “Exams never end”. But the list of events doesn't stand here. Several other meetings are outlined in different institutions of Yerevan.

21.10.2009 The First-Year Students of Bachelor and Master Degree Programs were Granted Record-books and Student Cards
The regular official ceremony of delivering record-books and student cards to the first-year students of bachelor and master degrees of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov took place in A. Khachaturyan concert hall. YSLU rector S. Zolyan traditionally opened the annual ceremony focusing the students’ attention on learning as many languages as possible, thus becoming skilled specialists and performing activities in ever changing environment.
During the ceremony the talented YSLU fellows welcomed their first-year friends. National and Latin-American dance performances enriched the evening show. Moreover many students executed familiar and beloved songs in different languages showing the impact of language on music. After the official ceremony of delivering the record-books and student cards to the first-year students commenced with the participation of deans of three faculties Mrs. L. Fljyan (Foreign Languages Department), Mr. H.Tshantshapanyan (Linguistics and Intercultural Communication Department), Mrs. G. Markosyan (Russian Language, Russian Literature and Foreign Languages Department) and Mr. H. Avagyan (Master Programs Coordination Department). They all greeted students and wished them gaining core knowledge of the profession and having wonderful student life in our University.
At the end of the ceremony the famous Brusov Rock Band “Another Story” welcomed the students to our University.

21.10.2009 Memorandum of Understanding
The official ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) and Yerevan State Linguistic University “Brusov” took place on October 19 at YSLU Big Hall. The EPF Country Director Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan mentioned that this cooperation gives new opportunities to our students and University to realize new programs within the framework of Bologna reforms in Armenia.

20.10.2009 “Education and Career” Expo
On October the 14 – 16th the Annual Exhibition/Fair “Education and Career” took place in Sport and Concert Complex, where Yerevan State Linguistic University “Brusov” actively participated. Education and Career Expo is a unique platform for Education Professionals looking to maximise access to the latest trends and innovations in education and reach the largest potential mass market. Within the frameworks of the exhibition YSLU represented the latest publications of “Lingva” publishing house», as well as films about the past and the present of our University. One of the most important events of these days was the round table organized by YSLU French Language Chair, aimed at presenting to Armenian pupils studying French Language the perspectives and new educatiînal YSLU language teaching methods.

16.10.2009 Festival of Russian and Russian Literature
Institute of certification of quality by the contract with Federal agency of training and with the assistance of the Center of the international education of Moscow State University named for M.Lomonosov and Yerevan State Linguistic University “Brusov” /Department of Russian, Russian Literature and Foreign languages, dean G. Markosyan/ held the Festival of Russian and Russian Literature on October 12-15.
The representative of RF embassy in RÀ V. Krivopuskov, YSLU rector, prof. S. Zolyan and MSU prof. V. Stepanenko sum up the results of written competition for students and presented diplomas and prizes to the winners, wishing them new achievements in the field of Russian and Literary studies.

17.10.2009 Chinese Concert Dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of PR of China
“Confucius Institute” at Yerevan State Linguistic University “Brusov” and Embassy of China in RA organized a Concert dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Founding of People’s Republic of China. The representatives of the Music College of Shanxi University presented a very lively and nice Chinese music to the audience. The Concert was held at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall on October 13 and 14, 2009.

13.10.2009 Delegation of Ryazan State University named for S.A.Esenin at YSLU
7-10 October, 2009, III Forum of translators and publishers of the CIS countries and Baltic «Practice of translation and the market: mechanisms of interaction of national literatures» was held in Yerevan and Tsakhkadzor which was organized by the support of Interstate fund of humanitarian cooperation of the state-participants CIS and Ministry of Culture of RA.
Within the framework of Forum the delegation of Ryazan State University named for S.A.Esenin headed by the Rector, Prof. I. Sheina visited YSLU and delivered lectures to our students devoted to the concrete, practical and business matters of translation of national literatures.

05.10.2009 Views of students
On October 2-3, 2009 in YSLU Tsaxkadzor resort center by the support of YSLU staff and by the initiative of Student council of Foreign languages Department a round table on the theme «Armenian-Turkish relations / new views, new approaches /» took place. More than 35 students of YSLU 3 Departments participated in the discussion. The chairman of the discussion was prof. R.Gevorkyan and the reporters political scientists M.Zolyan, S.Grigoryan, A.Shakaryan, and also RA Parliament member K.Avakyan.
Main objectives of the seminar were to inform our students about the new achievements concerning the aforementioned question.

29.09.2009 Opening of the new Building of YSLU
26.09.2009. Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov celebrated European Day of Languages. On the same the day ceremony of the opening of the new building of YSLU took place. “Knowledge of foreign languages is very important for young specialists”,- mentioned professor Suren Zolyan, rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov.The guests walked round the building to appreciate firsthand the new facilities, called at the computer center and was shown over the reading room.
Tigran Sargsyan felicitated those present on a two fold holiday - the European Language Day and this housewarming function – as they are closely interrelated in mission. The head of government said in particular: “The modern world is peculiar in that it is shrinking rapidly, with interethnic contacts getting ever more intense.” According to the Prime Minister, this urges us to be more concerned about the mastering of languages as the outer world cannot be perceived without a good command of foreign languages.
Education was said to be among the key targets of the Government as the 21st century will be the era of education and proficiency.

28.09.2009 Presentation of the Chinese Language text-book
24 September 2009 presentation of the first Chinese language text-book in Armenian took place at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov. The publication of the text-book is an important event as it serves for the collaboration of the Chinese-Armenian relations. The publication of the book was founded by Confucius Institute and Yerevan Sate Linguistic. It is an interesting opportunity for our students to study Chinese by an Armenian text-book.

17.09.2009 Suggestion of interdisciplinary collaboration
15 September 2009 honorable representatives of Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas, Lithuania, were the guests of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov. During the meeting interesting suggestion of interdisciplinary collaboration were made. Special lectures on Educational innovations of Baltic Region were represented to the students of YSLU. The presentation of the innovations and Universities made an impression on the student.

05.09.2009 Public TV and Radio Company of RA and Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov sighted a document of cooperation, according to which the students of International Journalism of the Faculty of Intercultural Communication along with theoretical knowledge get chance to have practical experience with the leading specialists. 02.09.2009 presentation of “Philosophy of Education” and “Governing of Human Resources” manuals took place at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov. The manuals are published by UNESCO Chair on Education Management and Planning supported by “Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia”.

02.09.2009 Interesting 1st of September
1.09.2009 Ashot Kocharyan Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia in Indian, as well as Vladimir Karmirshalyan Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia in Argentina, visited Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov. They congratulated the students with the 1st of September and wished all the best. The ambassadors shared their experience with the students and answered to their questions.

31.08.2009 With satellite lectures on some issues of Armenian Studies
August 24-26, 2009 Eastern Armenian National Corpus organized a workshop on EANC Research Program 2008-2009 with satellite lectures on some issues of Armenian Studies. The workshop took place at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V.Brusov.

31.08.2009 “Projects for the formation of educational market of services”
2009.July 15-19. in Tsaghkadzor Eurasian Partnership Foundation in Armenia in cooperation with Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov organized a workshop-game on the issue of “Projects for the formation of educational markets and services”.

26.08.2009 Yerevan State Linguistic University tutor, honorable coach David Fahradyan's attempt to set a record for Guinness Book
07.24.2009 David Fahradyan, a lecturer at Valery Brusov State Linguistic University and gymnastics coach, on Tuesday completed 354 reverse rotations on the horizontal bar (his original target was 350). Fahradyan hopes his dizzying feat will earn a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Fahradyan told ArmeniaNow it took him about a quarter of an hour to accomplish the record, which hasn’t been tried for the Guinness Book before. The previous record for Russia, he said, is 250 revolutions. The swinger set his record at Hrant Shahinyan Gymnastics Olympics Sports School in Yerevan.

27.06.2009 An Important cooperation
26 June 2009 Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov and the Writers’ Union of RA signed an agreement of cooperation. The cooperation is very important for the sides as it supposes joint implementation of various cultural, scientific and educational events.

26.06.2009 VivaCell-MTS General Manager hosted by the Yerevan State Linguistic University of Armenia as a guest speaker
25.06.2009 VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian delivered public lecture under the theme “VivaCell-MTS – A Business with a Mission”. The meeting was held within the frameworks of “Internship” program considered for young specialists. Ralph Yirikian met with the rector of YSLU professor Suren Zolyan with whom further bilateral cooperation was discussed. The guest also met with students, the faculty and alumni representing all departments of the University, and shared with them the Company’s successful strategy of business development, technical development of network, marketing strategy and Corporate Responsibility.
In his lecture followed by a question and answer session, VivaCell-MTS General Manager introduced the market vision of the Company and the dynamics of its development, including its state-of-the-art network and end products and services used by the customer. Aspects of market competition, effective marketing and network implementation strategies were also covered in the lecture.

16.06.2009 Level Estimation Grid for Foreign Language Teachers at our University
From June 16 to July 4 2009 level estimation grid for foreign language teachers are organized at YSLU.
The Grids are organized by the Ministry of Education and Science and within the frameworks of the Center of Educational Programs. Nearly 200 teachers from different regions of the RA are taking part at the level estimation grid.

On 10 June 2009 the specialist of linguistics, professor of Milan University Andrea Skala visited Yerevan State Linguistic University. Professor Skala met with students and had a lecture on “The Development of Armenian Studies in Italy”. During the meeting professor talked also on the issues of further cooperation of Milan University and Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov.
Starting from 11th of June up to the 27th of June Professor Andrea Skala will conduct special courses for the lecturers of our University on the new methods of teaching Italian for foreign Students.

On May 29 2009 the 2nd year students of the faculty of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication made interesting reports on English history and culture at the lecture of British Studies. The presents got acquainted with the English cuisine as well as with some English traditions and values.
A 3rd year student of Area Studies, Anna Voskanyan presented English music of 1960s and its impact on world culture. The students heard the history of the famous British rock band “The Beatles” and enjoyed their legendary music.

26.05.2009 “CEFR Level Estimation Grid for Foreign Language Teachers”
Workshop
On May 25, 2009 the workshop “CEFR level estimation grid for foreign language teachers (CEF-ESTIM Grid)” was held in the YSLU meeting hall by the UNESCO Chair of Education Management and Planning.
The primary goal of the workshop was to discuss and disseminate the CEF-ESTIM Grid which is the outcome of the November 2008 workshop held in the European Center for Modern Languages (ECML) Graz, Austria. Anna Azaryan, lecturer on UNESCO Chair of Education Management and Planning represented Yerevan State Linguistic University after V, Brusov at the workshop.
The CEF-ESTIM grid aims to help teachers link their class activities to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels. The CEF-ESTIM Grid will help teachers to empirically estimate the level of a text; a set of activities (reception, production, interaction and mediation); competences involved (linguistic, sociolinguistic, pragmatic); or the overall task (by combining the different levels) in the ordinary context of teaching practices.
The Grid comprises such concepts as the Dublin descriptors, outcome-based education and qualifications framework as its theoretical basis. Hence, the ultimate aim of using the Grid is to foster transparency and comparability of language qualifications in the European Higher Education Area.
The participants of the workshop, YSLU chairholders, foreign language student teachers and students, were given an insight into the context, theoretical basis, objectives, content and usage of the Grid. Later on during the workshop they had an opportunity to practise the Grid, applying it to a sample task.
The opinions, questions and comments of the participants concerning the Grid will be introduced to the ECML “CEF-ESTIM Grid” project team for further consideration.

20.05.2009 Visiting the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Armenia
On 19 May 2009 students of Area Studies, with their lecturer Maria Yeganian, visited the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Armenia and they share their emotions with us.
“….We were to meet with the Ambassador, but unfortunately he was abroad. Instead we had a wonderful meeting with his representative. The meeting passed very interestingly in a friendly atmosphere. We asked a lot of questions concerning Great Britain and we got very interesting to our questions. He expressed many interesting thoughts about Armenia, its culture and people. He was a very sincere person and spoke both about advantages and disadvantages he had noticed in our country. He was a person with a sense of British humor and at the same time he showed serious attitude towards each question. Spending there an hour and a half we felt very proud we really enjoyed our visit. There we had the chance to learn what the secret of a successful person was; we understood what meant for the British to be a gentleman. We left the “building” our hearts filled with joy and minds full of new ideas.
Our life brightened up for some minutes due to our dear lecturer Mrs.Yeganian, who gave us the opportunity of feeling self-confident and very important people for our future!!!!!!!!”
We hope that the great enthusiasm among the students after the meeting will effect positively on their future. Thanks to Mrs. Yeganian, who is doing her best to make the social life of the students more interesting and productive.

17.05.2009 Impression about Poland
16 may 2009 the first student Conference was held titled “Impression about Poland”. The participants of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V, Brusov and Yerevan State University exchanged their experience and knowledge gained at the lectures of polish at their Universities.
The aim of the conference was to speak about the intercultural dialogue between Armenian and Polish cultures, polish history and geography, literature and traditions.
The conference was organized by the lecturers of polish language of YSLU and YSU, under the supervision of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Armenia as well as by the “Polonia” Union of polish people in Armenia.
At the end of the Conference the Council of the Republic of Poland in Armenia Pshemishlav Glabovski presented certificates of attendance and presents to the participants.

06.05.2009 “Language Education Policy Profile”
05.05.2009 Representatives of European Council represented expert report on “Language Education Policy Profile” based on the national report of Armenia to the participant members of the board. Among the participants are members of ME of RA, MYSC of RA, lecturers from Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov, other universities and interested sides. National coordinator of the project is the rector of YSLU, Professor Suren Zolyan.
The representative of the European Council Maria Stoicheva expressed her appreciation towards the implementation of Language Education Policy in Armenia. According to the representative, Armenians are very much interested in the study of foreign languages, and the Profile will help to overcome the difficulties in the process of realization.
After the introduction of the expert report a discussion was held on the issue.

17.04.2009 Education in Armenia 2009
On April 15-16 2009 VIII International Exhibition “Education in Armenia 2009” took place at Yerevan State University. This exhibition gave chance to educational institutions to present educational programs and reforms taking place in educational sphere to the society. YSLU was one of the presented universities at the Expo 2009. During the opening ceremony the vice – minister of education Ara Avetisyan greeted the guests and said: “This exhibition contributes to the cooperation between universities, helps young generation make right and productive decisions referring their future profession”.
During “Education 2009” Round Table discussion was organized by professors of Chair of French Language of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov and teachers from regional schools on future cooperation. The vice-rector of YSLU M. Avagyan, the Secretary of Scientific Council D. Ghazaryan, the Dean of FFL L. Fljyan and others conducted the discussion.

09.04.2009 International conference at YSLU
On March 30-31 YSLU Chair of French language held an international conference symbolically called «The linguistic mirror of the universe».
The issues of intercultural communication, traductology, contrastive studies of languages, plurilinguizm etc. have been discussed during the conference. Famous linguists from France, Russia, Belarus and the representatives of YSLU, YSU, ASPU and Artsakh State University took part in the conference which was one of the most important events organized in the framework of Francophone week in Armenia.
During the solemn closure of the 2-day conference YSLU rector, professor Suren Zolyan not only expressed his appreciation to the organizers in the person of D. Ghazaryan and N. Manoukyan, but also handed souvenirs to the guests of our University.

07.04.2009 Opening ceremony of UNESCO Chair on Education Management and Planning
March 17, 2009 the opening ceremony of the UNESCO chair on Education Management and Planning took place. The Chair was found on the initiatives and cooperation of the Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov and the Ministry of ES of the RA. Among the guests of the ceremony were representatives of ministry of ES, international organizations who supported the implementation of the Chair, Staff of the YSLU with the representation of the Rector Suren Zolyan.The rector of the YSLU prof Zolyan and the head of the the department on higher education policy making at the ministry of ED of the RA Mher Melik- Baghshyan spoke about the importance of the implementation of the Chair in Armenia.Head of the UNESCO Chair on Education Management and Planning, adviser of the Minister of the ES of the RA Mr. Nerses Gevorgyan mentioned that there is a lack of specialist on this field especially recent years when Armenia Is maintaining new projects within the framework of the development of educational programs. And it was high time to settle a Chair serving the needs of the sphere.Taking into consideration the short period of the existence of the Chair, it managed to organize programs together with EC as well as with the OSI.

07.04.2009 Francophone Week at YSLU
On March 28, in YSLU within the frameworks of the Week of Francophone Events, in a quite warm atmosphere of the Francophone digital center of information in Yerevan, discussions were held devoted to the present problems of Francophone. YSLU students and lecturers of the Chair of France took part in the discussions.
The works presented by YSLU 1st year Master Degree students (under the supervision of Lusine Lobyan) rose interest among those who were present.
At the end of active discussions of the speeches, all the participants got presents from Francophone digital center of information, while the most active members of the center- Lusine Lobyan, YSLU lecturer of France and Liana Sukasian, 3rd year student of LIC Translators' department were awarded special prizes

07.04.2009 Francophone Week at YSLU
From 26 March to 1 April our University was filled with the atmosphere of joy and happiness related to the great cultural event organized in French motives. Francophone week at YSLU passed with great enthusiasm and had students enjoyed great number of events, competitions. The theatrical performances in their original interpretation, the session of the Student Scientific Society, the contests of translation, the best pronunciation etc., the lectures of our guests, famous linguists M. Rinn and J. Zarate let us feel the spirit of the French reality.

30.03.2009 A surprise for our University girls
On 14 March, the students of YSLU after V. Brusov were invited to enjoy the special concert dedicated to the month of women “March 8 – April 7”. The initiators were the boys of YSLU Rock group “Another story” who represented many love songs to the attention of YSLU girl-students. This interesting and lovely concert was performed in “Naregatsi” Art Institute. Artists, journalists and many other guests were present at the event.

26.03.2009 The week of Francophone
On 26 March 2009 at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov started the week of Francophone. Different guest closely connected with the week of events, including the ambassador of Belgium in the RA His Excellency Mr. Sh. Gilen, the ambassador of Romania His Excellency K. Prunariu, the ambassador of Francophone issues in Armenia His Excellency Mr. Christian Ter-Stephanyan, and other respectful guests were present.
The rector of the YSLU proff. Suren Zolyan mentioned that the program will serve for the cooperation of many countries on cultural, linguistic issues, thus enhancing friendly relations between these countries.
After the opening ceremony the guests were welcomed to watch a Romanian film “The Rest is Silence”

26.03.2009 “Healthy Communication for Healthy Lifestyles”
March 19, 2009 the opening ceremony of the “Center for Communication and Special Approaches to Education” took place at YSLU after V. Brusov. The subject of the discussion was “Healthy Communication for Healthy Lifestyles”, the aim of which was to develop new communicative and special educational approaches for healthy lifestyles.

23.03.2009 Meeting with Excellency Ambassador of India in Republic of Armenia Mrs. Reena Pandey
On 19.03.2009 her Excellency Ambassador of India in Republic of Armenia Mrs. Reena Pandey together with the ensemble of Indian classical song and dance visited YSLU. Meeting held with students was in warm atmosphere. Students asked question on possible student-exchange programs between the two countries. Rector of YSLU, prof Suren Zolyan spoke about the importance of the collaboration of the two countries.
At the end of the meeting the ensemble of Indian classical music and song made and interesting show. The students were really indulged with Indian significant culture

14.03.2009 Sping of Poets
12, March, 2009 an exciting theatrical event entitled Sping of Poets organized by the cultural service of The French Embassy in Armenia in the frame of Francophony week in YSLU took place at Yerevan State Linguistic University. 3 French actors and the singer Celin Le Corre presented their songs and monologues to the Armenian audience.
Many YSLU and YSU students and representatives of YSLU chair of French language attended the performance and enjoyed it.
As to the deputy head of YSLU chair of French language Donara Ghazaryan, the cooperation between YSLU and The French Embassy in Armenia will continue and give us many other similar initiatives.

28.02.2009 Exhibition and concert dedicated to Chinese and Armenian culture
26, February, 2009 an interesting exhibition and concert dedicated to Chinese and Armenian culture took place at the Puppet Theatre after H. Tumanyan in honor of the establishment of “Confucius Institute” at Yerevan State Linguistic University. Representatives from the Embassy of People’s Republic of China, the president of the Shanxi University Guo Guichu, Rector of YSLU, the president of “Confucius Institute”, Professor Suren Zolyan, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RA and other respectful guests were present. “The participants of the concert bring us closer to the cultural and spiritual values of both nations”, mentioned Suren Zolyan, “and it shows that language and culture can conquer on borders and distance”. YSLU is of paramount importance in the development of foreign relations of the two countries; although “Confucius Institute” is unique in the region, in accordance with YSLU it gives opportunity to all those who wants to study Chinese, better and deeper comprehend Chinese culture.

27.02.2009 "Confucius Institute" opening
25, February, 2009 the first session of members of the board of advisers of “Confucius Institute” took place at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov. “Confucius Institute” was established according to the agreement between “Shanxi University of the People’s Republic of China and Yerevan State Linguistic University in 16.12.2008. During the session board members discussed the development of educational processes of “Confucius Institute” and the forthcoming plans for 2009. Also Curricula and educational fees for the lessons were discussed and worked out.

27.02.2009 We are again the first…
A music interuniversity youth festival took place in Moscow House in Yerevan last month. It was devoted to the Russian student day (“Tatyanin den”). The festival was organized by the joint efforts of Russian and Armenian Ministries of Culture. Our University music group “Another story” took part in it and got the first place and at the same time was presented the special prize for demonstrating high quality music. By the request of the audience our group played several other songs, too. The Russian honored guest mentioned the importance of such competitions and specially thanked YSLU group. The group members were very glad and happy and ready to present our University during other future festivals too.
